The Funen Village and Odense trip

The Funen Village

We went to the Funen Village, where we got some tasks that we had to do. 

Task 1
Visit Tommerup Præstegård, Katterød hospital and Melbyhuset. Where should one go to use a toilet back then? 
- On Tommerup Præstegård you should go to the bedroom, here the toilet was almost as a real toilet. 
- On Katterød hospital you should go also to the bedroom, here the toilet was made out of wood.  
- In Melbyhuset there was no toilet. 

In the three houses the toilet fatalities were different, it depended on how rich you where, and how poor you where. 

Task 2
How many of the houses in the village have half-timbering? 
- We counted it to be around 20 houses. 

Task 3
The houses of the village do not have any water pipes. How did they get water back then? 
- They got water from pumps and wells. But if they didn't have a well or a pump, they had to go the nearest well or pump. 

Task 4
Before the time of electricity the mill was the most important source of energy to the agricultural section. Go to the three mills Maderup, Davende and Skamby Torup. What was the energy from the three mills used for? 
- They used wind energy and water energy, to keep the mills running they used corn production, water energy and wind energy. 

Task 5
Go visit the Vigerslevhuset, here there is an old handicraftdman's house. Which handicraft does he do? 
- He is a clog maker. 
Task 6
Visit the classroom in Eskær skole. How many students did it have room for? 
- The classroom had room for around 21 students, and it was heated by owen. 

Task 7
Visit the dining room at Fjeldstedgården, how many people are sitting around the table? 
- Around the table there are sitting 3 persons, there are also 2 other women they are standing in front of the table, it looks like they are the maids in the house. The people who is sitting, they are eating "risengrød and bread".
