Chat and social networking

The Webcams
Webcams are oldschool and nobody uses it anymore. In case you do, it won't affect your family because they might not know that you are webcamming with somebody.
But there is some website where you have to use webcam like "Chatroulette" where you chat with strangers, but we warn you, don't go to chatroulette!

Face to Face vs. Web to Web
Do you chat and Skype and other kinds of digital interaction instead of meeting face to face?
- Nowadays people, prefer the easy way of communication, which is using the social networks. People go to Facebook, MySpace or Twitter to get in contact with their friends, who they can't meet. If you have control over what you are doing on the internet then it is okay. Otherwise, when you have the chance to meet the person, but you choose to use social networking sites then you have lost the game.

My Cyberfriend and I

I have had a cyber-friend for almost 3 years now. I have been "friends" with a guy I don't really know for 3 years. But how? How can I just meet a random guy on the internet and be chatting with him for 3 years.
Well it's pretty easy. There's lots of website that gives you the opportunities to talk to strangers. I met my "friend" on a website called "Omegle". It's basically just a website where you get set up with a total stranger, without any information about the person. This gives you the opportunity to speak openly with a stranger. However, "Omegle" isn't always that good, because you can create your own person and identity. So when people are asking "How old are you?", "Where are you from?" and "What is your name?" You can just say "My name is Michael, i'm 34 years old and from Ireland" But you are actually a 17 years old girl from Denmark. But it's also funny to create a new person instead for being yourself, because you don't necassarily have to speak with the person again.
However I met my cyber-friend on Omegle, and we were not making a fake identity. We just chatted and then we gave each other our e-mail so that we could chat on MSN. Our chat continued and we almost chatted every day. We were chatting on skype, facebook and MSN.
But even though I have this cyber-friend I still talk more with my "real" friends than with my cyber-friend.
My experience learned me that cyber-friends is a good thing because you learn about a different culture and you will practise your english. Just hope that your person is real, and not a fake freak, who makes fun of you.
Go out there and get some cyber-friends!
